Streetsblog USA just published a feature article about how BikeRackMap.com members are “tackling one of the trickiest problems in the fight for livable streets” – making sure cyclists have a safe, convenient, and secure network of excellent bike parking.

Thanks again for all your hard work on bicycle advocacy, including the challenging parking situation.
I worry more about secure parking now that I ride a more expensive ebike. I upgraded to a nice U lock but the real challenge is finding something to attach that lock to. Many of the places I go for shopping and such do not have bike racks. Rather I often have to find a tree, sign post or shopping cart corral. The smaller loop of the U lock requires a smaller diameter pole/tree etc vs a cable lock. Finding something to tie up to can be challenging w/o a bike rack.
The problem is worse for longer term parking. I recently rode my ebike to jury duty, which is an all day affair. I was really concerned about where to park. I found a municipal garage with an attendant but worried the whole time.
Thank you for your support Bruce.
We use a u-lock combined with a kryptonite cable which allows us to lock to trees and other unacceptable parking if necessary.
